In a star rutile quartz, a black hematite crystal serves as an alignment point for the rutiles which line up in parallel bundles along each face forming a six rayed star with a hematite center. This star rutile quartz is natural, and has some surface imperfections, pits & scratches. The lapidary artist left these to avoid removing material. The stones are set in
