It is marked for 925 silver, as being made in Taxco, and with the maker's initials, CP. This modern silver brooch is large and reasonably heavy, weighing 14g. The design has traditional Mexican elements, but is beautifully executed in a modernist style. Measuring just under 2 3 4" tall, and 1 3 4" wide, it reminds me of a bird perched on a shield.
