The Library A delicate and beautiful exampleA stunning early Victorian rosewood, bird eye maple and mother of pearl writing slope lap desk. The writing slope boasts exceptional marquetry depicting stylised themes from nature. The box opens to reveal a writing surface covered with later purple baize, and compartments for pens, inkwells and paper. All hinges open and close with ease. A lock mechanism is in place internally, however the key hole has been covered with mother of pearl externally.
