Basil Hayden's Rye Whiskey The Gladstone Axe from the sweetness of agaveThis whiskey started by aging a traditional rye four years, then transferred it to newly charred quarter cask barrels to age an additional seven years. The smaller barrels created more contact with the oak and allowed more air to breathe into the cask, which resulted in an incredibly deep flavor.
