Tramonto 9/15/23 In spite of 9's efforts

In spite of 9's efforts to strip down the band's sound and recover some of the power that was sacrificed for more elaborate arrangements

this isn't a bad way to pick up these sessions if you don't already own them

while "Free Until They Cut Me Down" initially sounds like Johnny Cash's bluesy take on Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" until Beam's honeyed voice enters

Angelo Badalamenti's score

but soon swells into something much more epic and foreboding -- it's a deft mixture of brassy action movie music and tingling drama
