This collar has a recess on the bottom to allow the external fork spring to sit in place. There are (2) types of collars used from 1964 1974. The early type has no groove for the fork boot #97 1645 and the later version has a groove for the #97 3635 fork boot. Early collar fits Triumph 350, 500, and 650 twins (Bonneville, T100R, TR6, T120, etc) from 1964 1967. The later collar fits
