Antique Kalamkari Coat or Robe Block Printed and Hand Painted : C19th Persia Arts and Crafts textiles Turban cloth 4: narrow multiKalamkari hand painted and blocked coat or robe from Persia mid 19th century. The Kalamkari textile used for the coat dates from first half 19th century. Highly decorative it boasts large boteh motifs which run around bottom border of the coat. Chintz motifs decorate the upper chest portion of the coat while smaller scale floral motifs interspersed with exotic birds run down the sleeves. The coat is fully lined with a block printed cotton.
