Filigree Necklace with French Normandy Clasp - 18k crescent circa 1770This gorgeous 18k gold necklace features an enamel French clasp with a newer filigree chain. One side of the clasp panel bears a shield surrounded with an enamel floral motif. The reverse is decorated with 3 enameled flowers, including pansies, or "penses", meaning "thinking of you". The clasp bears the ram's head hallmark in use in France from 1819 to 1838. These sentimental regional clasps from Normandy were typically used in bridal jewelry. It can
