George Cave Size:M116 around 1815An early eating apple. Small to medium fruit, flushed red. Crisp, sweet and juicy with an intense flavour. A strong tree and a good cropper, ready in mid August. Like many early varieties, does not keep long. Raised by George Cave in 1923, but introduced to Seabrook's Nursery in Essex in 1945. Blossom is said to withstand frost. Permission to use photograph by Philip James (Dinefwr Heritage Orchard) is gratefully acknowledged.
