Before this ancient bog oak reached the "drying" stage, it was covered with lichen and moss to blot out the sun elements and suspend it's return to the earth. It laid in a bog for around 6,000 years (it's patina is the darkest I've ever seen) and was discovered in the western Czech Republic after WW2. All timber is
