It has a tone that is not as bright and expressive. Not as sweet as spruce, but a little darker and earthier. It plays well at all volumes and responds well to a pick or finger. The wood will darken to a butterscotch color with age and exposure to light. We recover our Port Orford Cedar on the Southern Oregon Coast. The areas that the trees are removed from are replanted
