Looking At Lumahai Frame Color:Black which is why North PacificThe Pickled Image catches Lumahai Beach in late light, mist rolling up off the surf. West of Hanalei on Kauai's north shore, Lumahai is best known from the 1958 film South Pacific this is the beach where Mitzi Gaynor washed that man right outa her hair. The postcards leave out the shore break: a steep, fast folding wave that closes on dry sand and pulls swimmers out almost every year. The hazards are why the beach stays empty enough to look like this.
