mtg devour cards Temur Visual Deck View Target player sacrifices a creature MTGNexus - The Devour Elemental

This card prevents damage to a target permanent you control if you choose to add to its counter, but by adding no counters, it becomes a 4/4 indestructible creature that prevents all damage to it

This led to the card showing up in competitive decks at Pro Tours and GPs, which in turn led to another problem: Wizards ' infamously curling foils

Back in Alpha it would pay for a vanilla 2/2 Bear with no abilities, but in Wilds of Eldraine it gets you a 2/2 Food Golem with a veritable smorgasbord of upside

There are also some really cool Commander staples that make the Tyranid Swarm a good choice for newer players
