On Modern, particularly, it caused problems due to buffing the infamous Elemental Money Pile deck, a deck that ran Risen Reef, four-color Omnath and four of the pitch elementals as the abusable ETB effects of choice, all of which have been mentioned on this page already for being game-breakers themselves
That being Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim, the chosen Commander of this deck and one of, it not the best Aristocrats Commander MTG has ever printed
Ive activated Sunforger a few times thinking that I still had Holy Day in the deckbut its been somewhere north of four years since I took it out
I wonder how this plays out when I compare it to the Black Lotus for the masses, Gilded Lotus (5 Tap: Add three mana of any one color to your mana pool.) This is hard to setup: you need to spend four mana to equip a creature, then the creature needs to deal damage mid game to your opponent-which means that an unblockable or Trample creature will do the trick best
I dislike this having the forgettable non-spirit clause on it, but its almost certainly there to keep you and your opponent from bouncing each others Roaming Ghostlights
