If the Special Summon of a Special Summon Monster by the proper method is negated, that monster is not considered to have been properly Special Summoned, and cannot be Special Summoned by card effects (other than the proper method) while it remains in public knowledge locations
For some, that's going to disqualify it from contention, but we've seen stall decks in the past that don't mind sitting back behind a Druddigon and letting your opponent's Pokmon tire themselves out while they build up
