There are a few things better in Magic: the Gathering than throwing an army of 1/1 Goblins at someones face to win
A 2/4 does all this but better, and while not exciting is a better use of mana than nothing
It also nullifies your opponent's graveyard - pretty backbreaking for strategies like 'Dredge' that rely on the 'yard - and allows you to grab your opponent's best threat from the void and play it free of charge (Okay, at the cost of its own life, but it's a lowly two-drop, so who cares?) Paired with targeted discard cards like the popular Thoughtseize, Dauthi Voidwalker has the potential to be super scary
Meanwhile youre also spoiled with arguably the formats best card advantage in Rydias Return, Fang, Fearless lCie, and Fight On
Not only have there been a limited number of cards with this mechanic, its a lengthy process to gain those ten counters
