Its not the best possible value, but it makes for a piece of thematic Grixis equipment and has some sick art that looks like it's straight from a death metal album cover

If you want to remove it via a Disenchant or Naturalize-like effect, this black permanent also boasts a proto-ward effect: if it's targeted by a spell, the spells controller loses a not-insubstantial five life

Its open-endedness allows for a lot of possibilities

In previous versions I tried out ramp spells like Utopia Sprawl and Search for Tomorrow in an effort to make sure I could cast Wilderness Reclamation on Turn 3 as often as possible, but the low amount of access to Turn 1 Snow-Covered Forests made Sprawl feel incredibly awkward against anyone with Field of Ruin, whilst suspending Search for Tomorrow on any turn beyond the first felt miserable considering the need to hold mana open for your counterspells

Recursion is nice as your deck revolves around having a selection of creatures with specific different effects on them, most of which are flimsy and vulnerable
