Hygrell was a versatile and widely-exhibited painter who studied in Gothenburg and later at the Stockholm School of Art

The painting is signed illegibly in the lower right and dated 1833

Portrait Of A Girl Carrying Firewood Impressionism Both portraits are in goodA fine late 19th century oil on canvas depicting a girl carrying a bundle of firewood. Its been painted confidently with broad brush strokes in areas and a great deal of bravura. Her eyes are beautifully rendered and capture her expression masterfully. Shes caught somewhere between exhaustion and a desire to overcome. In the bottom left youll notice a small dwelling on raised ground. The portrait is housed within an appropriate later wooden frame.
